Although all components of a PV system may not be fully functional for this period of time, the basic PV module can produce potentially dangerous currents and voltages for the life of the system.

How to ground a PV inverter?

In general, effective grounding can be achieved with a grounding transformer as shown in Figure 1 (a). If the PV inverter has an internal transformer with the grounded wye to delta configuration, a grounding reactor can be used instead by accessing the neutral point of the inverter transformer.

Do PV systems need to be grounded?

The NEC requires that all exposed or accessible PV equipment and circuits be properly connected to earth (grounded) using specified methods and equipment.
